According to reports by ESPN and MLB.COM, the Miami club announced on the 3rd (Korea time) that it had taken measures to release Anderson (DFA).

Anderson, who has been waiting to be released, can move if another team appears to be seeking to be recruited. If not, he will remain in the Miami team as a minor league player or become a free agent after being released, and start negotiations with other teams.

Anderson, who made his big league debut with the Chicago White Sox in 2016, hit .335 (167 hits in 498 at-bats) in 2019 and ranked first in MLB overall batting average.

He was named an All-Star for two consecutive years in 2021 and 2022, and also played for the U.S. national baseball team at the World Baseball Classic (WBC) held in March 2023.

Anderson posted a career batting average of 0.278 98 homers and 347 RBIs in his nine seasons in the MLB.

Anderson, who ended the season early due to a finger injury in August 2022, showed a sharp decline in his performance in the 2023 season. He had a batting average of 0.245 with one homer and 25 RBIs in 123 games.

When Anderson was sluggish, the White Sox rejected the club's option, which was at stake this year, and chose to break up with Anderson.

As a result, he became a free agent, but few teams reached out to Anderson who went downhill. In February this year, he signed a one-year, five-million-dollar contract with Miami.

However, he failed to rebound again this year. The Miami Marlins will release Anderson, who showed severe slump with a batting average of 0.214 and nine RBIs in 65 games.

Miami recalled prospect Javier Edwards from Triple-A instead of Anderson.
